[DUJUN]
I saw her ate
the porridge slowly, gulped it down without making any noise. Now, both of us
were sitting side to side on the carpet in the dim living room. The table in
front of us full of side dishes like kimchi
and tofu, and also two glasses of herbal medicine. I caressed the corner of her
left eyes when I saw a trace of tears there. She just remained silent. “I am
sorry….” I whispered. She still busy with her porridge and didn’t care to look
at my face. “I am truly sorry.” I repeated. As the shine of moon entered the
room, I could see her flat face; I don’t
know what exactly happen to her….
Suddenly she put
the spoon on the table, drank the herbal medicine, and wiped her lips. She
moved closer to me, I could feel her arms touched mine. I looked at her who was
not even once seeing my eyes. I eyed her moving, and my heart skipped a beat
when she leaned her head to my right shoulder, and lingered her hands on my
waist. It’s not a matter of how long you
have been with the one you love, but as the skin ship happen you just can’t
ignore that you feel nervous and happy at the same time. Yeah, that was
what I feel every time being with Miinah.
She tightened
her embrace, and breathed on my chest, I hugged her shoulder. I could feel our
heart beat in sync. The room was silent, but both of us busy hugging each
other, feel our own love affection toward each other. Without word from our
lips and without any force to love each other, we were trying to repair our
relationship with the invisible love potion that I suspected being poured by
God just now to this room.
I smiled.
She hummed,
looked at my eyes finally, and smiled.
“I am sorry for earlier….”
She uttered. “I hate you yelled to me like that.” She continued, while
intertwined our fingers.
I nodded,
ruffled her hair, and smell the nice fragrance of her shampoo. “Me too, sorry
for yelling.” I looked at her teary eyes, “don’t cry like that anymore.” I
blinked. “You made me afraid.” I said.
“Sorry. I just
can’t control it. You said you were tired, but minutes later you said you were
not.” She inhaled. “What a liar.” She hissed.
“Yeah, I know I
am a bad liar.” I giggled. “Have you done eating?” I checked on her bowls.
“It’s still half of it. You need to finish it, Miinah.”
“I’m full.” She
said, patted her tummy. “You eat yours. Palli….”
She took my bowls, and got a spoonful of porridge and forced it to my lips.
“Aaaaaa….” I chuckled seeing her like that. Without realizing it, I parted my
lips, and she successfully feed me. “Yeay, you need to finish it!” She smiled,
while preparing the next feeding. I pinched her cheek, made her yell “Hyaa…
Dujun-ahh… neo… apaaa…!” I slid my tongue and reached her bowl.
“Now, time for
you to eat yours… aaaaa….” I put the spoon deep into the base of the bowl. Yeah, I get it. “Open your mouth,
princess…. aaaa….” I delivered the spoon into her mouth, and….
“Ugh… what is
it?” Miinah blinked her eyes, “What is it… in the porridge?” She opened her
mouth and took something out from it. I chuckled a little. “Dujun-ahh, what is
it…?” She widened her eyes when she saw a ring on her hand. “Dujun-ahh… what is
it?” She looked at me, surprised. “A ring?” She eyed the ring, didn’t know what
to do.
I took the ring
from her hand. And cleaned it with the tip of my shirt, and placed it on her
left ….finger. “Will you marry me?”
She blinked her
eyes, opened them, and widened them.
“Will you?” I
said, once again.
She just looked
at me, stiffened like a robot, and didn’t even make a single move.
“Well, it seems
you reject me,” I made a sad face, “I will take the ring back.” While pouted my
lips. Suddenly, she held my hand; I took a look at her face, she was almost
crying but happened to wipe the tears, and laughed.
“Hyaaaa…. Who
will think to propose by giving a porridge ring?” She patted my left arm.
“Porridge ring?”
I asked, “This is made from diamond, you know.” I caressed the ring.
“Oh my God, babooooyaaaaa…. I mean, who will think to
give a ring by hiding it in the porridge….!” She hugged me, “I do. I do.” She
continued.
“And… I have
this…,” I ran to my bag on the kitchen table, I took a paper from it. “Look.” I
handed the paper to her whose eyes got widened again.
“O my God, are you
serious? We are just twenty four… and we are doing it now?” She almost jumped
from the carpet when she read what was written in the paper.
“We are twenty
five in Korea –yeah, twenty four internationally. But, we are mature enough to
sign that!” I said while pecked her lips. “Will we fill the paper? And then…
registered our marriage?” She sobbed to make me surprise, “Why?” I asked.
“Hmm… let’s sign
this marriage certificate after I have been kneeling down to your parents,
after I have been thanking them to deliver a man like you in this world, and
after I have been giving your nuna
the best knitted sweater I made.” She licked her lips, “Is it okay?” she
continued.
“Do what you
want….” I nodded, “But, first, will you move to my parents’ house?” I asked who
was replied by her humming. Then, she slightly nodded.
“I will.., but
after you met my dad.” She said. I smiled full with the content of happiness. I
could feel I was less tired now. And, for her surprise, her dad had known this
event because he was the one who gave me suggestion to do this ‘late porridge
proposal’. Yeah, he proposed Miinah’s mother in the same way. After Miinah got
angry at me, I called her dad, and he suggested me to propose her, which was
already on my plan that night. I drove fast to the ring shop I had ordered to
make the diamond ring for this ‘I-don’t-know-when-will-happen-event’ around
three weeks ago. And now, the ring already on her finger, and I love it!
“I will.” I
said.
“I love you!”
She said while hugging me, and sniffed my neck. “Now, am I your wife?” She
whispered to my earlobe.
“…” I didn’t
know the answer because we hadn’t signed the marriage certificate and hadn’t
held the wedding ceremony. So, I thought we were not legal yet now. Don’t you
think so?
“Baboyaaaa…. We haven’t official yet!”
She patted my arms. “How could you think so long just to answer that?”
“Ehm… because I
don’t see any difference between you become my wife or just simply the girl I
love most in this earth…” I said, shyly, “I mean… I have loved you for all this
time, and will keep going to love you…!” I smiled brightly, opened my hands,
and offered her to come to my embrace.
“I love you… I
love you…!” She cried in happiness. “No matter what happen next I want to see
you smile like this, Dujun-ahh, araseo,
my husband?”
I could feel my
cheeks reddened as she said ‘my husband’… I don’t know whether it is a dream or
reality… all I know is I cherish this special moment like there’s no tomorrow.
“How about we
move to the next level?” I teased her.
“What?” She looked
at my eyes, “What do you mean?” she asked.
“There…” I moved
my chin toward her bedroom direction.
“Hyaaaa… pervy… neooo….. andwae…. We haven’t been a
legal married couple, you know!” She punched my chest, and took the bowls and
glasses and stuffs. “I will wash the dishes; you can help yourself calming down
your dirty mind.”
I laughed
loudly, “Hyaaa I am kidding you know… do you think we never do that before?” I
jokingly kicked her back side.
“Ehm… what we
did before was different with the-move-to-the-next-level term you have made
just now, you know!” She pouted her lips, and walked to the kitchen, while I
eyed her, and sighed.
“Miinah, I love
you.” I whispered, more to myself, “And… hi, self, thank you for being the
brave Dujun…,” I sat on the couch while turn on the television. This moment, I
couldn’t describe myself more, besides: COMPLETE.

[MIINAH]
My name is Choi Miinah. Now, I feel so full
of myself. Now, I am a woman. Now, I have found someone that cherishes me
incredibly. What I want next besides living by his side forever? Having a nice
family, and becoming an old couple until we have grandchildren. How nice my
life will be. Yes, if destiny says so, everything can happen. I washed the
dishes while imagining about future we would have been through. But, came to my
realization, that those things would go nowhere, expect in my imagination. I
sighed, and back to eye the dirty bowl when I saw the diamond ring shone so
brightly there. I smiled. I don’t know
love, all I know is I will take this moment to my embrace and walk by his side
happily without thinking too much about tomorrow which probably would never
come to me again.
I had finished
washing the dishes when I heard a snore came from the living room. I turned my
face to him. I giggled when saw Dujun sleeping on the couch with head leaned
back to the wall and his legs on the table. His mouth opened a little, and
produced the snore. You don’t know how
happy it is hearing someone you love snoring in front of you? Yeah, I love it
that I could kill a lion. Oh, pardon my exaggeration. But, for sure, I love
seeing him like this.
He must be
tired. Yet, he still lied to me, saying that he was not tired at all. I hate
him yelled to me, but lying was the worst thing ever. I still could feel how he
embraced me when I cried in the kitchen just now and crawled to the ground to
feel the pain of seeing him tired of me, but he just couldn’t tell it clearly
to me, moreover he yelled to me when my body was not in good state. He hugged
me while patted my back, and saying “I am sorry. Let’s eat first. Ehmm?” I just
cried, cried, and cried when he lifted me from the floor with his muscle hands,
and brought me to the couch in bridal style. I didn’t have any courage to see
him, and just crying like a toddler there, until he served all the dishes on
the table in front of me. He ate his own without paying attention to me. I saw
him eating the abalone porridge, it looked so tasty. When I sat there blankly,
I heard the very voice of my stomach. He chuckled, and said “You may cry after
you eat the porridge. I know you are hungry after throwing up like that.” made my
cheeks red. Then, I sat beside him, ate the porridge in silence.
I don’t know he prepared this ‘porridge ring’
event.
I eyed him while
taking the remote control from his hand and turned off the television. I sat
beside him, looking at his perfect face, although there was saliva dripped on
the corner of his lips, I still felt that he looked so damn handsome. I patted
my own head, “Hyaa, Miinah, neo… this is not the first time you see him like
that, why you keep adore him this much?” I chuckled a little and then stood
from my place, and took Dujun’s feet which were on the table to place it on the
couch, and took his head to lean on the other side of the couch while taking a
pillow from the carpet and put it under his head. He moved for taking the
better sleeping position while humming. I stopped from my stuff and realized he
was still sleeping soundly, I removed his socks, and unbuttoning his shirt, to
change it into t-shirt he usually wore when he decided to sleep over at my
apartment. Well, everything was done, and to my surprise now I felt better, and
didn’t want to throw up again. I came to the laundry room, and put Dujun’s
shirt and socks to the washing machine, set the time and finished. I smiled to
myself when remembering what Doctor Sunggyu ahjussi
said “Once you discharge from the hospital, you can feel your stomach wants to
vomit so bad which is called nausea. This is because you lying on the hospital
bed for such long period. So, you need to bear it, and there’s no medicine can
really cure it.”
No, ahjussi, someone here have already cured
me.
I stepped back
to the living room, and sat on the carpet on the floor while eyeing his gorgeous
presence in this room. I caressed his cheek softly.
“Hmm…” he moved
slowly, opened his eyes, “hmm… Miinah…, am I falling asleep?” he asked in husky
voice.
“Yup. Even you
snored.” I giggled. “Back to sleep, Duj. I have changed your shirt, and tomorrow
it will be ready to be worn again.” I smiled. “Go sleep, it’s two in the morning,
you need to filming tomorrow.” I said, pushed his chest, make him back flat to
the couch.
“Sleep here with
me…” he whispered, gripped my wrist.
“I can’t… my
body…,” I said, “but, for tonight, it’s an exception.” I smiled and sat on the
edge of the couch, and positioned myself to lay beside him. Once I laid there,
he pulled me into his embrace.
“Wife, let be
like this forever.” He mumbled while back to shut his eyes. I inhaled and
exhaled, trying to get the best word to reply him.
“Just let us
finish the coffee slowly when it’s still hot, husband.” I said, and followed him, came
in to the slumber with a tear slipped on the corner of my eyes.
